An awkward awakening
From sore and stiff and sleeping muscles
Weariness weighs upon me
And into the grogginess
Music – too sudden, too silly
Next

Inhale

With the familiar sound of the opening strain
I shift
My being and my gaze toward the window

“Welcome to the planet.”

And I have slipped
Into endless miles of moon-lit clouds
Blanketing the earth from my sight
Holding me still beneath the gaze of the stars

“Welcome to existence.”
Selah

The deeper shift was more subtle
Escaping the words I now try to pin to it
But the imprint of that one moment is still tangible
Ever shaking off the stupor that would numb my soul

“I dare you to move.”
