Severed and scattered
Across this dry valley
Slowly forgetting the refreshing taste of water,
The sweetness of a cool breeze.
I stand before myself and You,
My dead self and You.
You ask of life…
“O Sovereign Lord, You alone know.”
And by that I mean,
I doubt it
I hope so
Will I ever find out?
Come words that call
Life from death
Unity from pieces
Wholeness out of brokenness
Weaving and binding.
Come Ancient Breath!
I call You to my empty self
And ask to be filled
With true life.
O Sovereign Lord, I long to know, to see, to be what You alone know.
